One of the main goals of Sümer Carpeting is to re-interprete the old carpets in accordance with the modern interiors and furniture of today's world and market those products in line with the culture of today's consumers.

Sümer Carpeting and Hand-Crafts Industries and Trade Inc., was established as a separate general management parting from Sümer Holding Company., in 1989. Sümer Carpeting remained as a dependent establishment to Sümer Holding Company, under a type of privatization status until 1998, thereafter with the decree made by the Council of Ministers it was removed from the privatization status and turned into a KIT (Public Economic Organization) bound up with Ministry of Industry and Trade. The main goal of the establishment of Sümer Carpeting is to study the carpet, the cultural heritage of Turkish nation, along with its cultural and traditional identity, file them, make them survive with their correct applications in our time, be a leader in quality and design, help the employment opportunities increase in Turkey and transfer this tradition to the next generations in a correct and intact manner.

What Sümer Carpeting does now is first to thoroughly examine the traditional structure of Turkoman weaving culture that arrived in Anatolia departing from Middle Asia on the immigration route, its anonymous designs and colors, technical practices of weaving in different parts of the country and make some efforts to make carpeting survive in our modern times adhering to these traditional cultural values. Secondly, we aim to add the best modern tastes to these highly cultural design and color structure and present the carpets we make with this idea in mind to the modern living spaces of our time. For this second task, we, as Sümer Carpeting, wish to re-interprete the old carpets in accordance with the modern interiors and furniture of today's world and maket those products in line with the culture of today's consumers.

Today, Sümer Carpeting employs 3000 weavers in the country. Sümer Carpeting pays attention to dye the carpet yarn with dye stuffs that have high degrees of light fastness and washing fastness for Sümer Carpeting has been designated to fulfill the duty of being a pioneer in this field by the Government, and we wish our carpets to shine more year by year and be long-lasting.

We, as Sümer Carpeting, take every opportunity to explain our quality and the distinctive features of our culture in any arena.

We have the trademark registration of Hereke carpet alone. But we have the geographical sign registration for 21 carpets and 3 kilims. For instance, "Yagcibedir" was registered with geographical sign for this type of carpets have highly traditional features and these features must be preserved ensuring a standard quality in some particular areas.

Products of Sümer Carpeting meet wih the consumers through our stores and dealers. We have our stores in Ankara, Isparta, Kayseri, Kula, Sandikli and Bursa. Also we have some 21 distinguished dealers, some of which are prominent companies that export carpets using the carpet villages (a system designed to market carpets to the tourists visiting the village on their vacations).
