Fatih Tavus: “At the Eurasia Trade Show, primarily we offered new quality products to clients. We must clearly emphasize that wall-to-wall carpets are suitable for every floor, they are more sanitary and alot more durable. Our aim is to be known with our success in hotel carpeting and to satisfy the needs of the hotels.”
Tavus Carpet was founded by M. Ali Tavus in 1960. It entered the carpet sector with hand-woven carpet production, and in time with the increase of the need for machine-made carpets, using technological innovations, swtiched to machine-made carpet production.
Tavus Carpet also has the Woolmark certificate which is given by Woolen International Associative. We interviewed Fatih Tavus, the director of the company.
How was the year of 2007 for Tavus Carpet?
2007 was a significantly good for our company. We try and make technological and institutional innovations every year. We try to develop our brand image and become a trademark. In 2007, we received the ISO 9001 document. We worked very hard in the quality deparment. In Turkey, the price and quality are formed according to client demand. However, we do not think the same. There must be a specific standard in quality, price and marketing of the product you produce.
Could you talk about your development in 2008?
There have been extreme developments in our web marketing. We have been thinking about increasing the number of branches in Turkey. We opened our second branch at the Keyap Bazaar in the Marmara Region. We opened another branch in the Western Blacksea Region. Our aim is to be closer to our clients and to increase service quality. The most important thing for us is to determine the needs and expectations of our clients.
Is most of your production in mosque carpeting? Will you produce new products?
Yes, we will have new products. We entered the sector by producing mosque carpets. We were recognized in the sector. Due to our recognition in this sector we have become a very noticable company locally and internationally. Our next target in the 100% wool carpet sector and is to grow as a company. We aim to produce quality and suitable carpets using healthy wool for everyone. Concerning this I truly believe in our quality and trademark.
How much is your production capacity aimed for this year? Could you explain the national and international share of this production?
It is difficult to give an acurate number because we purchase special orders. But I can say that we are hoping to do 240.000m2 production in 2008. Our exports cover nearly 20% of our production.
With which products do you hope to emphasize at Eurasia Floor?
At the Floor Fair, primarily we will offer new quality products to the our clients. We want to emphasize wall-to-wall carpets which is appropriate for every floor, it is healthy and durable. Our aim is to become well known in the hotel carpeting and to satisfy the needs of the hotels.
Could you talk about your marketing and sales?
We sell our carpets easily thanks to their quality, colours and designs plus our great references. We would like to increase the numbers of regional branches in order to reach our clients. Beside the quality of our carpets, by increasing quality, we are planning to reach the sale figures which we aim.
